Desire return with Just Another Love Song, pairing Johnny Jewel’s cinematic synth production with a self-directed visual that expands the duo’s dark romantic world.
Written and produced by Jewel, the new single is out now via Italians Do It Better and offers another preview of Desire’s forthcoming fourth studio album. It follows this summer’s Summer Skin and arrives ahead of an extensive North American, UK and European tour.
Just Another Love Song explores the tension between devotion and deception, pleasure and pain, wrapping its femme-fatale narrative in Desire’s signature electronic atmosphere.
The accompanying film pushes that concept further. Directed by Desire, it places Megan Louise in a cemetery at dusk, holding vigil for former lovers before firing a golden pistol like a darker version of Cupid. Desire explains:
Every love story needs a villain. I wanted to be her.
Created by Louise and Jewel, Desire have spent two decades developing a recognisable audiovisual identity across synth-pop, fashion and cinema.
With the duo controlling the music, production and visual direction, Just Another Love Song shows how a release can function as a complete creative world rather than a standalone track.
