STANDBY is the debut album from ITO which will be released on Friday 17th August 2007. A launch party in The Village, Dublin on the Saturday night will pave the way for a series of in stores ITO will play throughout the country.
ITO band members consist of Johnny Rayge, Ev, Steve ‘the’ Case, Niall Styles and Conrad. The boys hail from far flung corners such as California and Brazil with three grown on our own native soil. Their influences are an eclectic pot of sounds as varied as Brazilian flash heavy metal, classical music, hard punk rock, jazz and indie, producing a sound that is truly their own. Their first single ‘Higher than the Sun’, released independently in August 2006 broke into the Irish charts and their debut album STANDBY will certainly spark the same response.
Engineered by Ciaran Bradshaw who has previously worked with Republic of Loose, The Immediate, Ollie Cole and Turn, STANDBY’S creation springs from many sources, but it is unified by the tri-part theme inherent in and connecting each song: One person’s voyage through multiple feelings and sensations, the feeling of universal transience and a band of brothers spreading a message and enjoying themselves.
STANDBY is a title that can have many meanings and is a reflection of the diverse and multi faceted music on the album. Listeners will be taken on a journey similar to that of ‘The Little Man’ featured on the album cover. The journey through ITO’s sound travels through the enigma that is life and the choices that we make. It will encourage you to stand by, observe and appreciate rather than focus on the elements that can make life arduous.
Having already played in some of the top venues in the world including The Viper Room and the Knitting factory in LA, ITO have also graced the Irish Stages of many famous musical haunts including Whelan’s, TBMC, Crawdaddy and The Sugar Club. ITO has worked with established acts such as Republic of Loose, Director, The Marshals and Kopex and in 2006 was selected to have one of their music videos shown at the prestigious Hot Press Showcase.
People who have been waiting for such musical inspiration as ITO will be delighted their debut album STANDBY is released on Friday, 17th August 2007 and will further stand as a testament to the brilliance of these five assured young musicians. With the release of their album they are urging their fans to be on STANDBY for what will become the sound of the summer.
