DAMON ALBARN PERFORMS ‘EVERYDAY ROBOTS’ TO WOMAN ANDROID OTONAROID

damon japanCheck out Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn’s recent performance at Japan’s National Museum of Emerging Science & Innovation (Miraikan), in collaboration with The Creators Project. The select audience included Otonaroid, a lifelike female android, who moved her body and hummed along to the lyrics, and Telenoid, an abstract human robot, who took a front row seat.

Albarn played electric piano and sang songs from his excellent debut solo album ‘Everyday Robots’. Albarn revealed: “When I was invited to sing to an android—that’s not the thing you get asked every day. You have to get really close to not believe that they might be a person. I suppose it’s just that complete sense of otherness, isn’t it? For us to really engage with them, they have to look like us.”
