The healing power of music soothes an aching heart on British beach band Coral Palm’s latest single Promises. Their latest release reflects on a relationship gone wrong, and how hard it can be to move on from a bad breakup.

Once you delve into the discography of Coral Palms, it’s hard to deny that these boys are irresistibly likeable, and their songs are unequivocally relatable. Usually, you can expect these guys to be bopping out beachy summer tracks full of upbeat melodies, but not this time – someone’s gone and gotten their heart broken, and you can really hear the difference.

Promises originated from the all-too-familiar woes of the typical college experience, and the heartache that goes with it. The track, produced by the band’s guitarist Adriano, has a natural, genuine feel to it, using nothing more than the instruments that the band plays live, leaving ample space for listeners to feel the emotion and passion behind every single note. The stripped-back musical style fits the more introspective lyrical content perfectly and allows listeners to get a glimpse of the band’s more sensitive side.

With powerful belting vocals and authentically vulnerable lyrics, their usual summery cadence is replaced here by a more bluesy, sorrowful iteration of their beachy sound, yet still in keeping with that signature sound that fans and music critics have come to know and love.
