Brixton alt-punk quartet Coltana – Blake Kenrick (guitar), Catherine Martindale (vocals), Hugo Tevra (drums), Gordon Duncan (bass) – release new single ‘Break Her’, due for release on 19th May via Poeticat Presents. Meanwhile lovely vocalist Martindale, opens up about, acting, feeling jealous and sexy Jimmy Hendrix…

Hi Coltana, how are you today?

Hi FM! Good thank you. Hope you’re well too!

Im feeling great. Thanks! Please introduce yourself and let us know what you play.

I am Cat Martindale. I am a vocalist.

What’s ‘Break Her’ all about?

‘Break Her’ is about feeling jealous. It’s about looking at someone cool at a party & thinking you’ll never be as cool as them. It’s about the way women get pitted against each other & set up to compete for men’s attention when they should actually be enjoying themselves & be united.

If you could write any other genre, what kind of artist would you want to become?

We’d probably be progressive music with gansta rap. We like both of those things & they could sound great together!

If you could date any artist, current or not who would that be and why?

Jimmy Hendrix because he was sexy as f**k!

Growing up, was music always your main passion?

No I love performance of all kinds. I studied to be an actress. First I wanted to be a vet but then I found the imaginary world much more exciting! I just loved being on stage & still do!
