Dance Tonight by Coldhands is a perfect pick-me-up for the party season, a scintillating, feel-good earworm and bonafide disco bop.

Coldhands is the newest brainchild of inventive Australian artist Ryan O’Dea, fast gaining traction on the Neo Soul scene. He previously earned his stripes as part of a range of acts, including 80s-inspired pop duo Russian Gymnast and jazz-funk band DayGlow Freaks. He emerged recently onto the Funk/Neo Soul scene with the cool and laid-back debut single Feels Like A Holiday, which has so far garnered over 12,000 Spotify streams and a feature on Spotify’s Summer BBQ 2022 playlist. Influences include Silk Sonic, Vulfpeck, Thundercat, Breakbot and Jamiroquai.

Dance Tonight comes after a year of production, including months of fine-tuning to achieve the final product, and it sounds like it was worth it. Wonderfully nostalgic yet fresh, its rich soundscape features Chic-inspired guitars, snappy percussion, a relentlessly groovy bass line and an irresistible chorus.

Grammy Award-winning engineer Dom Morley acted as a mix consultant on this track, while Coldhands himself impressively played all instruments, sang all vocal tracks and recorded all layers from his home studio in Adelaide.
