CHRISTY Gets Nostalgic on New Song A BETTER PLACE

"'A Better Place' is very nostalgic for me. This was the first song I wrote that kicked off my whole musical journey," Christy remembers. "I wrote it 4 years ago, while I was working in Paris at a time in my life where everything was changing rapidly and going very fast-paced. Looking back on that now, I remember it as one of the best times in my life. For this reason, ‘A Better Place’ means a hell of a lot to me, so we decided to record it as a live take to capture the rawest, emotive performance."

Glasgow based singer-songwriter Christy’s latest single is a lookback at some of the most enjoyable times of the rising musician’s life so far. A Better Place is taken from his entirely acoustic upcoming EP, the first of two to be seen this year.

Very much in the same vein as his musical influences of Chet Baker and Jeff Buckley, Christy’s tender ‘one man and his piano style’ is captured perfectly within the falsettos of A Better Place. Written 4 years ago while living in France, the melancholic tones come seamlessly through from the singer’s sentimentality towards the good memories of the time, while the vocals, captured entirely live around a piano, showcase the range of Christy’s belts.

“‘A Better Place’ is very nostalgic for me. Looking back on that now, I remember it as one of the best times in my life. For this reason, ‘A Better Place’ means a hell of a lot to me, so we decided to record it as a live take to capture the rawest, emotive performance.”

Having already risen to over a million Spotify streams and being listed as One to Watch from both Amazon Music UK and Wonderland Magazine, Christy burst onto the scene in 2020 with the warmth of his EP, Homegrown. Having since taken a pragmatic approach to lockdown, using his music career as a motivator and a distraction, A Better Place is only a taste of what is to come.
