We’re all missing a bit of nostalgic rock aren’t we? Well with Yorkshire based band Boxteles, they bring it in spades. Since their inception in 2019 they have fast become one of the hottest rock bands in the country, selling out headline shows across the North in their rapid rise. They have just released their debut EP Break-Ups, Bevs & Thinking Ahead’ on August 6th, and their lead single Let Him Go could be their best yet. It’s a pop-punk/indie-rock masterpiece from the Huddersfield quartet, as they effortlessly try and portray the serious subject matter of domestic abuse.
Always looking for the major chord, Boxteles really bring out the best in themselves with this one, as they take the message seriously, whilst also delivering their huge, stadium-sized sound that we’re sure you’ll be hearing around venues all over the country very soon.
Speaking more on Let Him Go the band explain: “Let Him Go deals with the so often unspoken subject matter of abuse in a relationship from two perspectives, the abuser themselves and a close friend of the victim desperately trying to convince them how wrong the situation is. It shows the mindset that an abuser often has in the sense that they can feel that what they’re doing is simply protecting their partner rather than the reality of their controlling and manipulative behaviour. We feel that this is an important subject to start a conversation about.”
