American artist Alt-Pop Bohardt presents his new single Manipulated, produced by the renowned Stefan Mac (Young The Giant, Cold War Kids).

The artist, originally from San Diego and based in Orange County, is inspired by his life experiences.

From a young age, music has been an escape for Bohardt, giving him direction no matter what struggles he’s faced. It acted as a guiding light in the dark.

He has built a special sound by blending dark and personal topics such as unhealthy relationships, substance abuse and self-esteem with his own alternative pop flavor.

Manipulated is a song that tackles depression, ADHD and the stigma attached to it. It courageously points out the difficulties of living with these conditions and how society perceives them. The song has an awesome video to go with it that was made in-house.

Bohardt goes into more detail about the concept of the track: “Because of my challenges with mental health, I’m urging people to confront their struggles, challenge their negative thoughts, and seek a clearer and more authentic perspective on life.”

According to Bohardt, minimizing or ignoring mental illnesses and neurologic differences can be a contributing factor to the problem and give the impression that everything is their fault.

The sound of this music symbolises this misfortune, with Bohardt combining heavy electronic music and unique guitar riffs, with catchy drum beats. Bohardt’s song is passionate and emotional, with artful production effects and a vocal filter to make sense.

Even though the topics of his music might be on the down side, there’s a deeper meaning to his lyrics. It is as if he is trying to use music as a means of healing himself and whoever is listening.

Bohardt hopes to pass on his message to his fans through the mediums of music and dancing. A means of bringing everybody together in a unified celebration of life.
