Super Highway is the latest release from Birds Are Better, a musical project from Norwegian singer-songwriter Stian Fjelldal. It’s a melodic, uplifting jewel of a folk-pop song, with a sense of homecoming at its heart.

With lyrics that speak of the onward journey home, the song has an irresistibly effortless sense of airiness, decorated with synths that give the track a spirited feel, and energetic guitar strums that nourish the soul. For a song with such a frivolous title as Super Highway, the core message of the track is beautifully simple; it’s all about coming home, wherever that may be.

As a self-described ‘’huge fan’’ of artists like Fleet Foxes and Lonely Dear, Fjelldal’s Birds are Better borrows some key elements from the best of indie folk, injected with a powerful dose of electro-synth pop to create one supercharged beast of energy. With a sound that has been described as ”a meeting between Charlie Puth and Mumford and Sons”, Fjelldal seems to have tapped into a musical niche that fits his artistry like a glove, which is certainly no mean feat.

Super Highway is Birds are Better’s third single and continues to build on the anticipation for the debut album which is due to be released this May.
