After the success of the massive Easter Rocks event at Belfast’s only rock and sports bar, Ma Nelson’s will be holding a regular major gig event for charity!Ma’s Big Gig will be host local music talent and will be the perfect opportunity to showcase artists on the Northern Ireland music scene and raise money for worthy charities.

The Easter Rocks two-day event that inspired Ma’s Big Gig featured 24 performances from top local acts and raised over £500 that went towards Rape Crisis, PIPS Programmes and MacMillan. Headlining at the weekend were Audio Illusion, Midnight Transmission, Freefall Freeway, Stormcrows, Worldsend, Downcoil, St Hellfire and Shake!

Bar owner Tina Calder decided to continue the concept as a monthly event following its major success and feedback received from bands and music fans.

“Ma’s Big Gig each month is a great opportunity for bands to get together and network, try out new material, showcase their music to new fans and sell their merchandise all in the name of charity,” she said.

“Now we are looking for up to 24 acts per month to join our fantastic line-ups over two days at Ma Nelson’s.

“Bands can also use this as an opportunity to get to know the team at Ma’s and gain the potential for future gigs and gain valuable advice from industry experts and experienced musicians and performers who will be attending each show.”

The weekend events will feature three headline acts and nine support acts on Saturday and Sunday and a wide variety of music genres and styles are welcome.

The first Ma’s Big Gig, a follow up to Easter Rocks will be held on Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29.

Charities will be confirmed closer to the time and Ma Nelson’s is now taking requests from bands, performers and acoustic acts so to get your act on the bill get in touch!
