London-based, singer-songwriter and dancer, multi-talented Beauty (aka Mark Thompson), describes his sweetly produced, emotive-pop track ,’Grown Up’ – released on 16th September via BeautysMusic – as being inspired by a much needed conversation with his best friend – a bittersweet song about nostalgia and all the unwanted responsibilities of adult life…
Hi, how are you today?
Hey, I’m feeling really good thank you.
What initially inspired you to create the ‘Beauty’ project?
Well ‘Beauty’ is my nickname. It was given to me by a friend who I guess felt that I was a bit of an androgynous looking individual! What’s your new single ‘Grown Up’ all about?
It’s about looking back on your teenage youth with a smile and wondering if growing up is really all its cracked up to be.
Has creating music been something you’ve always wanted to do?
As a kid I always enjoyed singing and dancing and just being expressive in general. But it wasn’t until I was in my teens when I started to write songs and train as a dancer that I thought to myself “Hang on, I actually really like this and I want to do this full time!”
If you could collaborate with any artist (alive or dead), who would it be?
Well since you’ve gone and thrown the whole dead or alive element in there, I’m gonna go ahead and say Michael Jackson, for obvious reasons!
Can you describe your sound in five words?
Poptasically catchy urban tinged goodness
What can we expect from Beauty over the upcoming months?
You can expect a delivery of more songs, possibly in the form of an EP. And hopefully, I’ll be popping up playing shows in your local area!
