This May Berlin based duo Me and My Drummer played the critically acclaimed ‘The Great Escape’ festival in Brighton, successfully grasping the crowd with their heartfelt electro-pop not once, but twice. This is one of the many reasons we’ve decided to make them our Band of The Week this week.
The band have had to deal with their fair share of set backs over the past few years, from singer Charlotte Brandi breaking her foot and suffering from laryngitis, to throwing away a whole album of material and starting from scratch.
Their video for ‘Easy On Me’ draws on these feelings of frustration and the duo’s determination to overcome their obstacles.
The band’s latest album ‘Love Is A Fridge’ is an LP that musically covers a huge range of styles and ideas, maintaining its bold feel and flavour for experimentation throughout. With some strong support for their debut – ‘The Hawk, The Beak and The Prey’ and over 150 shows under their belt, you’d think it would have made sense to continue riding the feverous wave the duo had created on today’s extremely competitive music scene.
However Charlotte Brandi and Matze Pröllochs have stepped away from the spotlight to focus on their music, adamant to do things their way.
If you enjoy warm, heartfelt electro-pop and you get a chance to watch this band play live, we strongly suggest you do, because you will not be disappointed.
