"Weirdo is about including everyone. No one should be excluded. Self-empowerment for everyone! Even if you're out of line. We want to break a lance for acceptance."

Weirdo is the newanceable analogue techno gem by the avant-garde pop duo ÄTNA and the11-man techno
marching band MEUTE.

The track, released via Humming Records / The Orchard, was recorded when in 2020 both bands stayed at home instead of going on tour and performing at festivals all over Europe: “I watched all the seasons of Game of Thrones and started growing courgettes, tomatoes, raspberries and kohlrabi, but then quickly realised that we couldn’t afford to keep it up. We had to resume working on new material,” singer and keyboardist Inéz said. Weirdo is the resultant first song.

Inéz added: “Weirdo is about including everyone. No one should be excluded. Self-empowerment for everyone! Even if you’re out of line. We want to break a lance for acceptance.”

The German electro-pop duo ÄTNA share on FM their the Top 5 Influences Playlist:

The Prodigy – Firestarter

We were recording our first album Made By Desire in Berlin’s famous Hansa Studios when we heard of Keith Flint’s unexpected death. That very moment made us realize how much impact his and the Prodigy’s work had on us. They are so unique and therefore influential to so many of us!

Enya – Orinoco Flow

Taking a bath in thousands of voices. Comforting, dreamy, not from this planet.

M.I.A. – Galang

Iconic MIA brings together worlds you just wouldn’t expect. Her producing, singing and rapping in combination with an absurdly thrilling visual language are one of kind!

The Police – Bring On The Night

The energy, the chords, the style of hair – we dig it all!

Herbie Hancock – Watermelon Man

Coming from a jazz background we have a strong inner connection to the mighty founding mothers and fathers of the genre. Here is one of the greatest: Herbie Hancock!
