ConnahEvans1After releasing his debut EP Labels last year Connah Evans got big praise from his local BBC Wales as well as a number of impressive festival slots. But rather than resting on his laurels he is back straight away in 2016 with his new single ‘Wait For Me’.

A bright mix of sun-soaked guitar and catchy lyrics has made me almost forget the storm currently battering itself against my window and instead has transported me to a lovely summer day sat in a beer garden with friends. The whole feel of the track has an upbeat positive vibe to it.

However, upon closer inspection you notice that the lyrics are filled with uncertainty, distance and questions about the future. As a mix it makes for a nice juxtaposition between the music and lyrics.

Originally from North Wales, Connah has begun to establish himself as a young artist with a real talent for both song writing and an energetic live performance. And rather than flogging a long-dead horse he seems keen to separate himself from the singer-songwriter tag by producing music with a much more nuanced sound than just your standard voice and acoustic guitar combo.

Taking elements of bands like Circa Waves and Two Door Cinema Club his sound is much fuller than his contemporaries. With Wait For Me we are already seeing him develop and refine his own sound from last year’s Labels. Hopefully he will continue to do so over the next few years as he continues to grow his abilities as a musician and his audience.

‘Wait For Me’ is out February 26th 2016 via Heart Leap Records.
