august at night is an independent alternative R&B artist quickly becoming known for his intimate, unique blend of R&B and Alt-Pop. The artist, who goes simply by “august” to his fans, is considered by some to be the perfect response to the shallow times we live in. His music features lo-fi production styles and often emotive lyrical content that explores the depths of heartbreak, desire, and spirituality, with intimacy, honesty, and depth. Drawing inspiration from life’s deepest moments, august seeks to capture with music what can’t be expressed through words alone.

The debut EP Moon Sign features four tracks that serve as an apt introduction to this versatile new artist, with intimate, emotive vocals in a rich yet understated, soundscape scored by a fascinating blend of organic and electronic.

It opens with Bones, a dark, seductive track that employs the use of subtle instrumentation to build a rich, indulgent soundscape. This is followed by the more Alt-Pop influenced We Won’t Talk Again, a heartfelt number featuring fingerpicked guitar as a focal point interwoven with soft synth lines as august’s gentle vocals take the forefront. Moon Sign, the lead single off the EP sees august’s sound transpose once again as he takes inspo from the stars with spacy synths that put the listener in a trance, mixed with dreamy lead vocals and cinematic production quality. The final track on the EP, Too Good, acts as a bonus track due to be released after the main EP’s release. Listen below:
