Alex Maes & The Connection made their debut in 2019 and have honed their sound ever since. After a lot of hard work and dedication, the band is finally ready to showcase the new EP, The People We Thought We Knew.

The band consists of Alex Maes (lead singer and songwriter), Warren Pettey (keys/piano), Kevin Barber (bass) and Francisco Morales (drums).

The 4-track EP delves into the various facets of human relations – from those we have with others to those we have with ourselves.

Their sound is a fluid mix of R&B, jazz and funk; they gather different genres to create something fresh for their music and shows.

From start to finish, the 4-track EP offers a unique, dreamy jazz and R&B experience that’s both complex and charming. Every song from US to lead track YOU is guaranteed to dazzle and enthrall you.

Brian DiMaio – a Grammy nominee sound engineer who has also worked with stars like Terrace Martin – was behind the EP production.

Alex Maes (Lead Vocalist) was in charge of production and Sean McLaughlin lent a hand with vocals. Warren (Keys/Piano) did the mixing. On top of everything, the EP was mastered by Jonathan Wyner – a Grammy-nominated mastering engineer.

Alex Maes & The Connection have already captivated audiences at impressive venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, The Narrows and Boston City Plaza with their moving performances.

They have received some recognition these days; they were recently nominated for the ‘Best R&B/Soul’ at the New England Music Awards this year, and as finalists in the 2022 New England Last Band Standing Competition, their first-class lyricism, musical, and entertaining performances have garnered a lot of praise.

If you want a new band to listen to, Alex Maes & The Connection is a great band to watch this year.
