The first segment of her new album, Africa, one of a kind celebrates Angelique Kidjo’s proud roots in Africa along with Nigerian singer Mr Eazi and Salif Keita.
Now with a monumental 14 albums under her belt Kidjo has cemented herself as one of the leading voices representing her continent on the planet. Her upcoming album Mother Nature continues to be a celebration of her home. The ethos of approaching this new LP was re-connecting with a new wave of young African artists making a name for themselves on the international scene.
The entrancingly passionate Africa, one of a kind see’s the four-time grammy winner’s team up with Mr Eazi.
Starting with a sample from Salif Keita’s “Africa” which the two artists wove into a joyous anthem with a poignant meaning. With the recent anniversary of Kidjo’s native Benin’s independence from France the artist’s pose the question of “Are we really independent?”
