‘A Fix’: Mira Sthira and Mikheil Rusishvili’s sonic jaunt through addiction and Earth advocacy

"A fix is about the experience of battling addiction in whatever way shape or form it shows up for you. It could be an addiction to a substance, a person, a behavior, or dysfunctional ways of relating to others."

In a musical collaboration that defies borders, Mira Sthira and Mikheil Rusishvili, have woven a narrative that transcends mere melodies. With their most recent drop, titled A Fix, you are taken on a therapeutic expedition through the realms of addiction, recovery, and fervent plea for Earth advocacy with its electronic-dark-pop beauty.

Though physically distant in Bath, Maine, and Tbilisi, Georgia, Sthira and Rusishvili found a creative convergence that knows no bounds. Their sonic experiment travels the globe, with Adelphia Studios in Mexico adding the finishing touches and Steel House Mastering in the United States providing the final polish.

At the heart of their musical venture lies A Fix, a track that unravels the complexities of addiction. Sthira, also an addiction counselor, infuses personal experiences into the song, introducing the character Violet as a symbol of internal struggle. The result is a captivating narrative that beckons listeners to break free from destructive cycles.

For Mira Sthira, the songwriting process is a form of shadow work and therapy. As the melodies unfold, so does her healing journey, creating an intimate connection with the audience. It’s more than music—it’s a shared exploration of the shadows that shape us.

Mira Sthira‘s mission extends beyond personal struggles, weaving into a larger narrative of Earth advocacy. Sthira passionately emphasizes the need to protect the planet, invoking the primal memories of fire, fish, and survival. The music becomes a vessel for reconnecting with the forces that bind us to nature.

In the midst of her sonic journey, Mira Sthira extends an invitation to fellow female artists. “I am developing a music support group and would love anyone to reach out!” It’s a call to build a community, fostering support and unity among artists.”

Mira Sthira shares: “Outside of music I am an addiction counselor and also have experienced my own processes of growth in my own lifetime. “A fix” is about the experience of battling addiction in whatever way shape or form it shows up for you. It could be an addiction to a substance, a person, a behavior, or dysfunctional ways of relating to others. In whatever way addiction shows up for you, we cannot ignore it. Not in our personal lives, not those who are helpless and need advocacy and we should also not tolerate ecocide and destruction of nature through collective addiction to consumerism and oil.

This song is about freeing oneself from the addictions that keep us connected to cycles and circles of harm and it is about seeing the violence we cause ourselves, others and the Earth clearly… and then letting it go. In this song my addiction is described and thereafter characterized by “Violet” who one’s higher wise-self is in a dialogue with. Ultimately Violet is unsure she can let go of what binds her, but ultimately the wise self knows that what is really needed is to sit still in one’s blood, to allow one’s wounds to just be, and to no longer fill the wounds with false medicine that does not allow it to scab over and to heal.”

Mira Sthira‘s A Fix is a testament to the transformative power of music—an ode to healing, connection, and an inspiration for positive change.
