A new 30-minute fast-moving interactive magazine YouTube show, called The WOW Show, works as an eye-opener into the world of work in the construction industry and encourages young people to start thinking about the type of job they would like to do in the future.
The Construction Special was filmed all around the UK and features some of the biggest and best employers in the industry, with interviews and real-life stories from employees, trainees, apprentices and graduates.
The film provides a fascinating yet realistic snapshot of the variety of career opportunities available in the sector and goes someway to dispel myths around an industry that has fulfilling career opportunities whatever a young person’s interests and is genuinely open to all.
Streamed live into classrooms around the UK last week, the 20-minute show was followed by a live Q&A session with a panel of industry experts. Two schools were hooked up via live feeds so that students could speak directly to the panel who were live in London and ask them questions.
The show is supported by a range of curriculum-linked teacher support materials. Teachers can access these materials free from The WOW Show section of the RSA Academies website rsaacademies.org.uk/projects/building-your-future
