Hi Safe To Swim! How are you today?
Hey, good thanks!
Please introduce yourself to our readers:
My name is Jim (Filippides) I sing and write songs in Safe To Swim.
What’s your new single ‘Friends’ all about?
‘Friends’ is about losing a loved one. It was inspired from speaking to a couple of my friends who had tragically lost someone very close to them. Based from what I was told, the song was born.
Who would you say are your biggest influences?
It varies daily. I can’t place my finger on what inspires me in particular as that’s usually something I find out after I’ve had the time to process the song. I take inspiration from moments in my life, other people’s lives, things I read, see and hear.
Describe your sound in five words:
It’s The Best Sound Ever
What’s the music scene like in Brighton at the moment? Any artists your’d recommend?
It’s a big scene! SO many bands. My favourite is probably Black Honey.
If you could collaborate with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Rostam, ex Vampire Weekend.
What are your plans for the rest of 2018?
Well time’s nearly up, so all that we can probably squeeze in is getting some EP tracks ready for release in early 2019!
And finally, where can we find you online?
You can find our music on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, YouTube, Amazon Music, Google Play etc. And you can keep up to date with us on Instagram @safetoswim, Twitter @safetoswim
