Lady GaGa has come top of a new worldwide social media chart.
The chart, run by Groovecount, tracks acts’ popularity across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Spotify and Last.fm by taking into consideration the number of followers, views and plays.
The Telephone singer nabbed the top spot thanks to nearly 27m Facebook fans and 7.8m Twitter followers.
The service also breaks down acts by region or genre and displays the top trending artists to give a view of who is gaining in popularity in each territory.
On the worldwide chart, Eminem is second to GaGa with Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Michael Jackson rounding out the top five. Justin is also king of YouTube with more than 1.2bn plays, while Michael rules Facebook with over 27m followers.
The Beatles are the most popular artist on Last.fm, while Elvis Presley is in the lead on Spotify.
Rihanna is the one to watch – if only stats from the last month were taken into account, the Rude Boy star would be first on the global list, well ahead of the likes of Katy Perry and Shakira.
In the UK, Coldplay are the most popular on social networks, closely followed by The Beatles, Muse and Radiohead.
