UNCONVENTIONAL ICELAND BY LACOSTE L!VE: “EXPENSIVE BEER, PEOPLE ARE CREATIVE AND THE GIRLS ARE PRETTY”
Lacoste L!ve meets aspiring model and photographer Hulda and graphic designer / artist/ Gudmundur. They have two things in common: both are multidisciplinary artists and both are from Iceland…
What makes Iceland a special place to take photographs?
Iceland is full of contrasts. We have geysers, glaciers, mountains, volcanoes, lowlands, highlands, sandy deserts, long black sandy beaches, lava, rivers, caves and waterfalls.
It is very beautiful and full of adventures.
I always want to tell stories with my pictures, whether it is a photo of a person in real-life or in a world that I made-up.
I think it is easy to make my own magical world here in Iceland and the nature helps a lot.
I love the thought of huldufólk (the elves living in the hills, mounts and rocks) and how they make the nature magical.
I often have some part of my images connected to that thought.
Iceland has so much space and so many options. The light is also very special here in Iceland. Wherever I look there is always something that inspires me.
The motto of Lacoste Live is “Unconventional chic”, what do these words mean to you?
For me, unconventional chic is a statement about moving away from what fashion and trends tell you to do – A girl who isn’t trying to be anything else but herself.
What would you say about Iceland to foreigners who have never set foot here?
Nothing very original, really, than what you are used to hearing!
The weather is very unpredictable, there is a lot of expensive beer, people are creative and the girls are pretty!
