SMITH WESTERNS ‘IDOL’: “INFECTIOUS PAEAN TO FRUITLESS HERO WORSHIP”

smith_westerns_web_use1-e1370250677502Check out Smith Westerns’ (Cullen Omori, Max Kakacek and Cameron Omori), splendid new track ‘Idol’, taken from ‘Soft Will’ (on Mom+Pop), the third album from the Chicago based band.

The brilliant video, directed by Sandy Kim, serves to heighten the sensations of distance and alienation of the track.

A gently lilting and instantly infectious paean to fruitless hero worship…“I held you up to the light/ to see if you had a summer night”, as Cullen Omori sadly sings.
