The ‘Youthquaker’ term, coined by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland, positively identified and demarked the teenagers who dominated the music and fashion scenes of the era.
Wonderful Californian singer and self-styled ‘Youthquaker’ Phlo Finister , releases her EP this July 27th, via new imprint Night Beach Records.
‘Poster Girl’ EP (produced by Benny Cassette and Andrew Dawson) combines simplistic, progressive and industrial beats with Finister’s distinctive vocal styling.Phlo Finister was born Elijah Finister, in Oakland, California, after relocating to Los Angeles at the age of eleven, Phlo dropped out of school to embark on a new radical path as a performer.While working as a stylist to the music industry in her late teens, Finister developed a fascination with the ideas of the 60s ‘Youthquaker’ movement.
