Check out the wonderful orchestral rework of the Echo and the Bunnymen classic ‘Bring On The Dancing Horses’ by Ian McCulloch, produced by Youth.
Legendary Echo & The Bunnymen front man Ian McCulloch releases the stunning and hugely moving album ‘Holy Ghosts’, produced by Youth (Primal Scream/Depeche Mode/The Verve), featuring two discs representing different eras in Mac’s work. It will be released on Edsel Records on 22nd April 2013.
‘Mac’ says: “Even since last year, I feel so different, I’ve been straightening myself out a lot, not relying on things I did daily, and distilling and purifying the good things in me, not just drowning them in…shite!”
“It was like, something’s happening here that you might want to document,” Mac recalls. “The fact that it was so spontaneously decided we’d record it was lucky, because on the night I’d more or less forgotten.
Usually you’re too aware of everything being mic’d up and all that, but this time, after the first chord had been hit, I was in a world of me own.”
The first disc is a collection of orchestral re-workings of classic Echo & The Bunnymen and solo tracks, originally recorded during McCulloch’s show at the Union Chapel last year.
The second disc is a new studio album ‘Pro Patria Mori’ that showcases ten new songs and completes a fantastic package.
