Alternative singer/songwriter Genna Marabese is set to unleash her own unique brand of underground pop on the world this May 28th with the release of her debut single ‘We Are Animal’. Fame thought this was the perfect time to chat with the fiesty artist about this single and much more.

Hi Genna so what can we expect from this debut single?

What inpired this track?

A bad mood and a dose of Lou Reed.

Your songs take a look at love, death and desire, are these thoughts drawn from your personal life?

Sometimes.
How did you get into the music business?

I was learning to play the violin, heard Diamond Dogs and took up the guitar.

Did you have to pay your dues by playing pubs/clubs etc?

Yes, i’ve played every hole in London and back

What artists inspire you musically?

David Bowie, Lou Reed, Tom Waits.

What’s next for you beyond this single release, is there an album in the works?

Yes, there’s an album brewing for 2013 and a follow up single due later this year

Have you any major festivals/live evenst lined up for the rest of 2012?

I have live dates coming up in London & some small festival slots in the summer

How do you relax and unwind?

Umm…that’s a weird one.
