TOP 5 LOVE SCENES IN MOVIES – TO CELEBRATE ZAC EFRON’S ‘THE LUCKY ONE’

Whilst we all have that particular scene in a romantic film that gets the waterworks flowing, here’s our favourites. To celebrate the release of Zac Efron’s The Lucky One on Wednesday 2nd May let us take a look at the top five love scenes in cinema.

Pretty Woman (1990) – ‘So what happens after he climbs up and rescues her?’…’ She Rescues him Straight back.’

Having fallen in love with escort Vivian, (Julia Roberts) Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) is due to fly back to New York, likely never to set eyes on her again.

Despite falling for each other, they make a mutual decision to go their separate ways so they can focus on their careers.

Edward decides to take a detour on the way to the airport and honks his horn just as Vivian is about to depart for San Francisco.

He gets her attention from the window, overcomes his fear of heights and climbs up the ladder to the top floor of the apartment to ‘rescue her’

Titanic (1997) – ‘We’re flying!’

Having been rejected by his new love interest Rose (Kate Winslet), Jack (Leonardo Di Caprio) is looking over the ocean and pondering his next move when from the distance he hears the words… ‘Hello jack, I changed my mind’.

He takes Rose’s hand and asks her to close her eyes and step up on the railings of the bow of the ship.

When Jack finally asks her to open her eyes Rose says in excitement ‘We’re flying!’ Cue the emphatic Titanic soundtrack and a romantic kiss.

10 things I hate about you (1999) – ‘Can’t take me eye’s off of you’

If there’s one way to win a girls heart, singing your heart out on the school football field isn’t a bad way of going about it.

Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) joins forces with the school orchestra and sings Frankie Vallie’s ‘Can’t take my Eyes off You’ to his teenage heartthrob Kat Stratford (Julia Styles).

Does this do the trick? Of course it does!

The Notebook (2004) – ‘It wasn’t over, it still isn’t over’

Noah and are Allie finally reunited have been kept apart for years following their previous love affair.

Alone in a rowing boat on the lake, a torrential storm breaks out.

Allie opens up and confides in Noah that for her the relationship was never over and demands an explanation as to why Noah didn’t write to her having waited seven years.

Noah reveals that he wrote her 365 letters, every day for a year. Allie is taken back by this news and embraces Noah as he moves in for the kiss.

500 Days of Summer (2009) ‘Darling, I don’t know how to tell you this but, there’s a Chinese family in our bathroom.’

Whilst perhaps more cute than romantic, we love the Ikea scene in 500 Days of Summer. Summer (Zooey Deschanel) and Tom (Joseph Gordon- Levitt) act out life as a couple whilst shopping for furniture in Ikea.

From Kitchen to another Kitchen to the bedroom, the amount of flirting is outrageous!

Whilst it’s initially comical as Tom realises there’s a Chinese family staring at them in the bedroom, it soon turns to awkward romance as Summer who doesn’t believe in ‘love’ kisses Tom only to tell him she’s not looking for something serious.

Until you see The Lucky One we won’t add it in to the top 5, but here is a little taster of the story

U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive—a photograph he found of a woman he doesn’t even know.

Learning her name is Beth (Taylor Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel.

Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.
The Lucky One is released across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday 2nd May
