American folk-rock starlet Lessie presents: ‘Covered Up With Flowers EP’

Lissie is set to release an EP of cover versions on 19th February. The ‘Covered Up With Flowers EP’ features a selection of her favourite songs, including a cover of Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit Of Happiness” that has been a regular fixture in Lissie’s live set.
Speaking about the Kid Cudi cover, Lissie said: “I was home in Rock Island, Illinois with a life-long friend of mine, it was summer and about 3 in the morning. She put that song on and it was like this perfect moment – the lyrics, the vibe, all of it! I love the defiance in it and I just love performing it because it helps towards getting out my aggression and makes me feel strong overall.”

The American folk-rock starlet, who released her critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Catching A Tiger’ in 2010, is currently recording her second album which is due for release in the autumn.

Lissie’s raw and gritty take on Lady Gaga’s classic ‘Bad Romance’ is one of a number of surprise selections on the EP.
Says Lissie: “This song was so huge when it came out and is such an anthem for unhealthy relationships! Haha! I had been in one for years myself which ended, and a few months later when I heard this song there was something so strangely sick and satisfying about it. I knew I had to do a version of my own. It’s a bit rebellious, like wanting what’s bad for you. I also knew it’d be unexpected by my fans.”

The tracklisting for the EP is:
“Pursuit Of Happiness” by Kid Cudi
“Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac
“Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga
“Games People Play” by Joe South
“Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica
“Ship Song” by Nick Cave
