London Fashion Week SS12: Topshop will continue to support young design talent this season, via sponsorship of the NEWGEN and Fashion East schemes and the Topshop Show Space.
Events running include workshops in the Oxford Circus and Knightsbridge stores hosted by the industry’s great and good as well as instore screenings of all the shows in the Topshop Show Space and of course Unique’s twenty-second collection.
For SS12, the Topshop Show Space is returning to the Old Eurostar Terminal at Waterloo Station.
This London Fashion Week, Topshop will be sharing its show space and production facility with nine young designers. Alongside Unique, this season the Old Eurostar Terminal will see the return of Michael Van Der Ham, Peter Pilotto, Mary Katrantzou, Meadham Kirchoff and milliner Nasir Mazhar alongside newcomers David Koma and Louise Gray.
This will be the third season which Topshop will live stream all the shows from its show space on its website topshop.com.
On demand versions will be available an hour after the live show, with daily edits featuring behind the scenes and interview footage available the following day. For more details visit topshop.com/londonfashionweek.
Topshop’s Oxford Circus flagship store will be screening the shows from the Topshop Show Space in a purpose-built screening room, with repeats every half hour. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday visitors can view a recap of the the AW11 NEWGEN shows, with SS12 screenings beginning with Unique on Sunday afternoon. Eight lucky visitors who arrive at the screening room first and claim a place on the front row will receive a Topshop Make Up gift.
Following the success of last season’s workshops, influential fashion journalists, bloggers and designers will be hosting Topshop’s fashion workshops in the Oxford Circus store from 16th to 20th September, and for the first time the workshops will also be running in Knightsbridge store, alongside makeovers and manicures.
As well as this, customers who spend £50 or more in store will receive a limited edition paper fashion doll gift, sure to become a coveted keepsake. Each paper doll also comes with seven changeable outfits, one from each of the designers showing their collections in the Topshop Show Space.
Topshop Unique will show its twenty-second collection this season, created by Topshop’s Head of Design Karen Bonser and team. In 2001 Topshop was the first high street brand to show on the official schedule at London Fashion Week, and has since become a firm fixture on the schedule. By Fiona Feeney
