This month Easy Star All Stars are returning to the UK and Ireland for a sixteen date tour in support their forthcoming album, Dubber Side of The Moon, a re-working of their classic album Dub Side of The Moon, released via Easy Star Records on the 18th October. The band will perform at The Stiff Kitten on October 24th 2010, tickets are available now.
Originally formed in 1997 for Easy Star Records’ earliest recordings, the Easy Star All-Stars existed mostly as a studio entity until releasing Dub Side of the Moon in 2003.
The group, which operates as a collective with a rotating cast of musicians and singers, was put together by Easy Star co-founders Michael Goldwasser, Eric Smith and Lem Oppenheimer. These three have directed and managed the band ever since. In 2009, the All-Stars played 125 shows in 25 countries on 6 different continents, truly establishing themselves as one of the top reggae touring acts in the world.
The band was nominated for a UK Festival Award for its three-day, three-stage performance at Glastonbury 2009.
Support on the tour comes from label mate Cas Haley who came out of America’s Got Talent in 2007 coming second while his Youtube videos quickly soared to millions of views.
No One – Cas Haley by KARTEL
His new album Connection comes out on October 18th on Easy Star Records. Having moved away from Simon Cowell’s Syco label in 2008 he decided to go solo, moving away from the media circus and concentrate on writing his own material. Connection is Haley’s true musical expression without the gimmicks, make up and chart-focused A&R man.
Sounding like a sun-soaked Paolo Nutini inspired by the reggae sounds of UB40 and the soul of Norah Jones, Haley’s voice shines through and his songs demand repeat listens.
