Debut EP â€œTruthâ€ by upcoming, independent R&B and pop artist Jordan Corey is out now.
The five- song EP contains â€œTruth,â€ â€œBreaking All The Rules,â€ â€œBack to Life,â€ â€œExit,â€ and â€œIn Love,â€ produced by Los Angeles-based Brandon Howard, Steve Morales, Stacy Barthe, and Corey Chorus.
â€œTruthâ€ addresses complex relationships and real-life hardships such as heartbreak, triumph, and true love.
The songs convey authentic-ity and originality, often appealing to generation X and Y females.
Some of Coreyâ€™s musical influences include Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, and Adele. â€œI admire artists with a strong presence.
I hope to be recognized as an artist with a distinct identity,â€ says Corey. In addition to R&B and soul, she considers the genres Motown, classic rock, and funk as heavy influences.
On May 15, 2010 Corey performed for a crowd of over 10,000 at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) Extravaganza music festival headlined by Drake and Chromeo. Corey performed as a lead singer for funk reggae soul band SoulMinded.
In 2007 she per- formed with theJOEband and won Clear Channelâ€™s KFOX-FMâ€™s Last Band Standing competition in San Jose, CA.
With theJOEband Corey performed classic rock songs such as â€œCome Togetherâ€ and â€œOhioâ€ by The Beatles and Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, respectively.
â€œTruthâ€ EP is exclusively promoted through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
â€œEmerging musicians gain credibility primarily through approval from friends on social networking sites,â€ says Corey. â€œI plan to connect and engage with the empowered social networking community.â€
Her YouTube chan- nel includes acoustic versions of â€œTruthâ€ and â€œBreaking All The Rulesâ€ followed by covers of Lady Gaga, Adele, and Amy Winehouse songs.
