Last summer Cocosuma gave us a glimpse of where they were heading: ‘Miracle Man’, with its fuzzy beat and playful synths was blowing the wind of change.
We knew the band loved the 60’s of The Kinks just as much as the 80’s of New Order but this doesn’t make their brand new and impressive single, ‘The Jar’ any less of a surprise. Mixed by Alf Briat (of Air and Sebastien Tellier fame), ‘The Jar’ – a metaphor of modern life? – is a true hymn. It’s somewhere between the Chromatic’s ethereal italio-disco sound and the glorious synth-pop of OMD’s first hits, making Cocosuma something of a modern-day Blondie.
The EP comes with remixes from the most exciting/talked about project from Italy, Clap Rules, the indie London based trio Is Tropical, and Sourya, Alan MacGee’s favourite French band www.myspace.com/cocosuma www.cocosuma.net
