Jools Holland has announced a Belfast show this coming Autumn at the Waterfront Hall. Having invited many prolific artists to join him on stage including Sting, Eric Clapton, Bono and Norah Jones, this time Jools invites Alison Moyet to be his special guest at this unique show.
Having a very successful music career with previous bands, the most recent being his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Jools Holland has also enjoyed a successful career as a TV presenter.
Making a string of documentary’s and presenting on various music shows, Jools now combines his musical talent and presenting skills on his popular show Later with Jools Holland, which is instrumental in introducing new artists as well as showcasing more well known personalities.
Jools will be joined by one of Britain’s most enduring and acclaimed vocalists, performers and songwriters, Alison Moyet. Alison enjoyed success at the early age of 21 as the lead singer of band Yazoo.
She then went on to release her multi-million selling debut album, Alf, at the age of 23. She won Brit Awards, performed at Live Aid, toured world-wide and broke the Billboard Top 40. Having begun her musical journey in punk bands and on the Canvey Island pub rock scene, it was by accident that she found herself in main stream pop world.
What started out as an interesting novelty soon wore thin and she turned her attention to exploring what she could do with her voice, an impressively versatile instrument that never forgot its earthy roots, to experiment in a world beyond pop. Hoodoo and This House were the first results of this shift.
Alison has worked in many other musical directions in the last decade including working in West End musicals.
She recently performed concerts in the UK and Europe as guest vocalist for the Academy Award-winning French composer, Michel Le Grand. 2009 saw Sony release a career spanning Best Of album to celebrate Alison’s 25 years as a solo artist which she followed with a sell out tour in Nov/Dec last year.
Jools Holland will be performing with Alison Moyet in the Waterfront Hall on Friday 22nd October 2010. Tickets are on sale now and are priced at £41, £38 and a concession price of £35.00. Tickets are available from the Waterfront Hall. www.joolsholland.com www.alisonmoyet.co.uk
