Eminem, Jay-Z and Muse Lead Stellar Line-Up For OXEGEN

Winner of Best Overseas Festival 2009 at The UK Festival Awards, OXEGEN returns to Punchestown Racecourse from Thursday 8th–Sunday 11th July. They asked you to choose who you most wanted to see at this year’s OXEGEN and now they reveal a line-up crammed with your favourites!

MCD confirmed that hip hop superstar Eminem will make his OXEGEN debut this July. It’ll be his first Irish appearance since the phenomenal sold out shows to 100,000 fans in Punchestown in 2003.

Eminem’s fifth studio album ‘Relapse’ topped both the Billboard and Irish album charts in 2009 and he recently picked up two more Grammy Awards to bring his total to an incredible eleven. One of the defining artists of the last decade, Eminem has sold over 75 million albums worldwide.

Since 1995, US megastar Jay-Z has dominated the rap industry and set trends for a generation. ‘The Blueprint’ and ‘The Black Album’ raised the standard for modern hip hop and his most recent release ‘The Blueprint 3’ has been a commercial and critical success. Jay-Z is currently ruling the airwaves with hit single ‘Empire State Of Mind’ which reached No.2 in the Irish charts.
Muse are without doubt one of the world’s greatest live bands. OXEGEN headliners in 2007, the band have since released their biggest album to date, ‘The Resistance’ which reached No.1 in 19 countries and spawned the huge single ‘Uprising’. Voted by Q as ‘The Best Band In The World Today’, Muse’s return to Punchestown will be super-massive!
OXEGEN 2010 will also welcome The Black Eyed Peas. Their three No.1 singles, Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Feeling, and Meet Me Halfway made history in 2009 with the longest ever successive stay at the top of the US Billboard Chart with 20 weeks at Number 1.
Kasabian last rocked OXEGEN in 2007 just before the release of their second album ‘Empire’. They’ve since released two number one albums and picked up a Brit for Best Band last week. Kasabian return in July when they should confirm their status as genuine rock icons. The Prodigy are not only one of the most successful dance acts of all time, they’ve also got a fearsome live reputation. Their recent release ‘Invaders Must Die’ is their most complete album yet and you guys can look forward to an awesome set full of their greatest hits like, ‘Breathe’, ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Warrior Dance’.
Kasabian aren’t the only Brit winners at OXEGEN this summer. Florence + The Machine won ‘Best Album’ for ‘Lungs’ and also picked up ‘Best International Band’ at The Meteor Music Awards.
Paolo Nutini also triumphed at The Meteor Music Awards, winning ‘Best International Album’ for ‘Sunny Side Up’. The album was a number 1 hit in Ireland and with songs like ‘Candy’ and ‘Coming Up Easy’, Paolo is sure to be on many of your must see lists at OXEGEN this year.

The geniuses behind electronic anthems ‘God Is A DJ’, ‘Insomnia’ and ‘We Come One’ are Faithless. They release a new album in May. If lead single ‘Not Going Home’ is anything to go by, it’ll see the band at the height of their powers.
Stereophonics have an incredible back catalogue of hits including such classics as ‘Dakota’, ‘The Bartender and The Thief’ and ‘Mr Writer’. Last seen at OXEGEN in 2008, this is a band you have to catch live.
We’re also delighted to announce superstar DJ David Guetta. David Guetta’s mix of electro hip hop, RnB and dance has catapulted him into the mainstream and he’s had major chart success with ‘When Love Takes Over (feat Kelly Rowland) and ‘Sexy Bitch’ (feat Akon) – both reached No.1 in Ireland.

Vampire Weekend rise to the top has been meteoric. They’ve followed up on the success of their debut with new album ‘Contra’ and we can look forward to the multi-rhythmic sounds of hits ‘Cousins’ and ‘Oxford Comma’ thrilling the Punchestown crowd.

Mumford & Sons seem to be the name on everyone’s lips right now. The beautifully catchy ‘Little Lion Man’ has been lighting up daytime radio schedules for the last couple of months and the band’s incredible debut album ‘Sigh No More’ reveals the full extent of their talent.

John Mayer’s fourth album ‘Battle Studies’ has been a huge hit across the globe. He’s collaborated with everyone from Blues legends Buddy Guy and BB King to rap heavyweights like Kanye West and is one of the most respected artists around.

Electro maestros Hot Chip have already given us two outstanding albums in the shape of the Mercury nominated ‘The Warning’ and 2008’s smash hit ‘Ready For The Floor’. Their new LP ‘One Life Stand’ was released in February and The Observer have called it ‘a great big aural hug of a record’! Hot Chip now embark on a US tour before their OXEGEN trip in July.

Australia’s The Temper Trap’s hypnotic single ‘Sweet Disposition’ was one of the soundtracks of last summer and peaked at No. 8 in the Irish charts. Since then the band have picked up further momentum and their stunning debut album ‘Conditions’ was many critics album of the year. Another great new band to emerge from the southern hemisphere are Empire Of The Sun. The electro duo’s breakthrough single ‘Walking On A Dream’ was a massive radio anthem over here as was the next single, the brilliant ‘We Are The People’.
