LONDON INDIE-ROCKERS OFFICIAL SECRETS TO PLAY AUNTIE ANNIES
OFFICIAL SECRETS ACT ANNOUNCE DEBUT BELFAST SHOW and their new single So Tomorrow is out today.
The new wave/pop London based band is comprised of Tom Charge Burke (guitar/vocals), Lawrence James Diamond (bass/vocals), Michael Andrew Evans (Guitar, synths, harmonium, vocals) and Alexander Dunlop Mackenzie (drums/vocals). The London group play Auntie Annies on Friday 17th April 2009.
Bounding forth with all the irrepressible zeal and energy you’ll soon come to expect from this very special band, So Tomorrow is the first single to be released from Official Secrets Act’s forthcoming debut album, encapsulating many of the aspects strongly marking them ones to watch come 2009.
Ostensibly about a friend of singer Tom Burke and his struggles with anxiety, through its stabs of new-wave synth, thoughtful lyricism and rousing chorus it becomes, simultaneously: a paean to friendship; an impassioned, infectious call-to-arms an open-to-interpretation slice of the very finest indie-rock Britain has to offer.
It’s backed up by equally worthy b-side Do Not Be Alarmed, a tumbling, atmospheric blast, replete with marching drums and chiming, melodious guitar.
With reference points ranging from Talking Heads through Vampire Weekend and David Bowie, the rich musical heritage Official Secrets Act align themselves with is as strikingly ambitious and fervently eclectic as the ream of material this band spent the closing months of 2008 perfecting.
