Star presenter of TV’s Dancing on Ice, Holly Willoughby, is supporting this year’s Children’s Hospice Week, 20-27 September. Holly, patron of Children’s Hospices UK, has been a keen supporter of children’s hospices since seeing first-hand the services they provide for children who are not expected to reach adulthood and their families.
She asks: “How will you get involved in Children’s Hospice Week 2008?â€
Children’s Hospice Week aims to raise awareness of the unique services available to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. It’s also about raising vital funds for the 43 children’s hospice services now operating across the country. Children’s hospices have helped thousands of children and families in the UK over the past 26 years. So how can you help?
Why not go to great lengths to support your local children’s hospice and take part in ‘Swim for Kids’ this October? Swim for Kids, the national swimathon run by Children’s Hospices UK, will make a big splash in Children’s Hospice Week this year with launch events taking place up and down the country. The event will run throughout October and thanks to our partnership with Parkwood Leisure, participants can do their swim for free at a Parkwood Leisure managed centre*. To find your nearest centre and for more information on how to register visit swimforkids.org.uk
Holly Willoughby says: “I have seen for myself just how tirelessly staff at a children’s hospice work to make the lives of children who are not expected to reach adulthood and their families more enjoyable. Along with Swim for Kids there will be tonnes of events taking place up and down the country during Children’s Hospice Week. Please visit childhospcie.org.uk to find out more about how you can get involved and support your local children’s hospice.â€
