Candide by the Bruiser Theatre Company

By Keith Bailie
THE Old Museum Arts Centre will play host to Candide from April 1- 8.
Candide opens a colourful storybook for audiences as the eponymous hero sets off on a world-wide tour in search of his sweetheart and the best of all possible worlds, sailing, battling and fortune-finding from country to country.

This Bruiser Production company show promises to be a frenetic, fast and funny theatrical experience.
Bruiser is premiering this new version from the pen of Patrick J. O’Reilly from Red Lemon Productions. O’Reilly is originally from Co. Cavan but now lives in Belfast. As well as writing the script, he is also performing in the show.
O’Reilly said: “It’s going to be pretty hectic acting in the show as well as writing the script but I’ve been getting into training in advance.
“It’s been a fantastic experience getting to grips with a story like Candide, full of great humour and energy – I can’t wait to see what people make of it.”
Previous productions by Bruiser Theatre Company include The Threepenny Opera, Confusions, The School For Scandal, Blood Wedding, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Teechers and Two.
The final night of the tour is part of The 2008 Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival at The Studio in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.
